I have been faced with this problem on my civilian Power-wagons. The solution that I came up with may work on your M37. I removed the manifolds ground off the remaining stud and drilled a 1/4" hole where the stud once was. From the inside, I inserted a 1/4-20 UNC stainless steel bolt of about 1" long through the hole. The bolt is held in place with a nut on the outside of the manifold that sits under the dampers adjusting cam. The bolt head inside the manifold does not interfere with anything. The stainless steel seems to hold up well to the heat and does not rust as bad as the original stud. I use a nut with a jamb nut to tighten down on the damper cam.

Hope this helps, Clint
