Our real estate office had a retired couple, 60s, that fell for the Nigerian scam of the same type. Even as their home was being sold before it was foreclosed on, they still wanted to send in that "last" $250 that would finally get them their millions. They lost everything. Not sure what happened to them as they were not my clients. They were not 80 and 90 year olds whose brains may not allow they to smell a scam. My father was sending me warnings on the latest scams for years. Near the end, he couldn't tell the difference and called me in a panic that my youngest son was in jail in Florida and he needed $1500 for bail. Deep in his brain he knew it was a scam but was so relived when I verified my son was well in San Jose, CA. Watch out for your elders, they can fall for it!
