Even though you are probably right, you need to let him do his own thing. Thats part of the learning process I guess.
On the other hand, you should be proud that you raised a son that believes in fixing things instead of the modern “replace everything”.
I learned a lot from my Dad, but he would always let me screw up after he told me the right way I should do something. Its part of the Dad thing I guess. Tell him you are proud of him, but also tell him pretty isnt as good as strong.
