should be able to blow it out with air. back the days when most cars had flatheads, removing head for cleaning was common. Another service station method was to blast it out threw spark plug hole. they had a special apparatus that blasted walnut shells in and vacuumed out at the same time. not sure how well it worked. flatheads build up carbon faster than overhead because of the ineficiency of the burn. the carbon is scratchy stuff on everything.
