Oh I agree. The only time building was a real pleasure in Vancouver was when city hall was on strike & so they allowed people to build without permits but everything had to be run through an engineer.
So much better...and cheaper.
Time is money. Permits/inspectors cost lots & lots of time & money. In Vancouver, the wait for a permit can be over a year...and you still need the engineer anyway.
