His almost looks like a primary fuel filter canister from back in the day.
Of course canisters were used for fuel or oil, depending on the element.

Forgot about the filter being a option, I was thinking it was standard on the PW.
I know it's on the build card but I thought that was for other models.
I was sure I saw it as standard on a option list somewhere?
