Quite a few years ago we had a spell of severe winter weather here in the foothills of Wilkes County, NC. At that time there were still many roads that were unpaved dirt (no gravel). After a series of snow storms and wet weather the local roads became a quagmire of slick mud. One day the mailman who knew about Dad's Power-Wagon stopped at our house and asked Dad if he would help him deliver the mail. Dad told him that he would be glad to help. So they loaded up the mail in the Power-Wagon and set out to deliver the mail over the mail route which was very narrow and winding and crossed a portion of the Brushy Mountains in our area. Dad drove and the mailman stuffed the mail in the boxes.
