There is a buyer for everything at the price you are asking....you just need to inflate that price so when you get what you really wan, they think they widdled you down :).
Seems to me like the folks that are willing to pay the big bucks for something like a PW are more interested in being able to drive it like a modern vehicle. I see not a thing wrong with modding up a vintage vehicle to make it more comfortable when sharing the road with modern vehicles. That being said, I would be extremely hesitant to chop up a relatively clean/complete/original old Flat Fender just to modernize. There are plenty of incomplete ones to start that from....then again, I prefer to start with the ones that are barely "spare parts" worthy that way, no matter what I do, It's an improvement, whether monetarily worth it or not.
Long story short, drop in the 4BT and never look back! If that is truely what you want to do.
