I have one of the old original 12V generators they put in the carryall radio trucks. Everything I read about generators turned out to be backwards compared to how mine was wired. Even the guy that rebuilt it got it backwards.
I never would have figured it out if I hadn't read the military manual and found out that it didn't agree with anything else I'd read. I found in that manual that there are a few different flavors. Make sure about what one you actually have.
Besides the dire warnings.. Once you get your head wrapped around how they designed it all and how it works. You find its actually a really clever system. All the logic is done by magnets and springs. ..And it just works! Mine had a gen. rebuild and the points filed. 76 years old and it still works great!
