I would be curious as to what they have to say. my latest manual from 1962 shows cast iron rings in positions 3 and 4. So I don't think it matters which one you use. I would put it in the bottom one. the pistons are designed to run cast iron in both so wouldn't car which one gets the 3 piece. or find another set of the cast iron rings and do away with the 3 piece?
