The easiest way may be to cut the door latch striker with a Sawzall from the inside. I have new door latch strikers. Wrap some duct tape around the blade to keep scratching to a minimum. I am not sure what you mean by the transfer bar but if it is one of the internal links in the latch try and find the broken off piece in the door.
