My father was in World War One. He served in the First Gas and Flame Regiment, 30th Engineers. His MOS was chemical warfare aka poison gas! His outfit shipped out 6 months ahead of the AEF so they could train in action with French and British gas outfits. His outfit spearheaded the Meuse-Argonne Offensive which resulted in the Armistice that took place on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. After the war he worked at ordnance disposal into 1919 until shipping back stateside where he was mustered out. Gassed six times, he was highly decorated and went on to live until 1984, passing at the age of 90. He was and always will be the finest man I have ever met. Sergeant First Class Millard F. Blair 7 December 1893 to 7 April 1984.
