I had a Willys Jeep with a similar problem. It had a bypass filter.
I filled the brass fitting on the return line with solder and drilled it out using a small drill bit (say 3/32”). This created an orifice that boosted oil pressure by resticting the oil flow just before it dumped back into the oil pan. It did slow the flow, but it increased the pressure.
I had the Jeep for more than 20 years, never had a problem after doing so.
