Gas tanks

So, here are the two gas tanks that I have. The one on the left is the 36 gallon tank that came with the truck, 1966 WM300. The one on the right is a new 18 gallon stainless tank I got from Chris Case, thanks Chris.

Chris's 18 gal tank fits in my truck perfect, no issues there.

But the 36 gallon tank has that weird filler neck tube that comes up out the top and bends over. They had 2x4 pieces of wood between the tank and top straps to take up the slack caused by that filler tube.

Was a 36 gallon tank an option on later WM300 or is this a tank from a M601?
