So it has been about 35 years since I last bought a 6-volt headlight bulb. The last time, I just drove down to the local farm store and grabbed two off of the shelf. Well, time flies when you are having fun and things seem to have changed. I cannot find any 6-volt 7" bulbs anywhere locally - not at NAPA, CarQuest, or any of the half dozen farm stores near me.
The best deal I found is at the link below. However I do not know yet what the shipping would be (I need 4 total). Another option is Ebay. The prices are about the same as those at the link below, but shipping is as much or more per bulb than the actual cost of the bulb.
I have read on other forums of people putting Halogen 6-volt bulbs in their old vehicles and finding that the generator does not put out enough power to keep the battery from draining on long drives. (But most of them are driving Chevys and Fords with generators not rated as high as the 35 amp Chrysler generators that we are accustomed to).
Thoughts/ideas. No, converting to 12-volts is not an option. It would fry my 6-volt fuel pump! ;^)
