You are right, it is some even ratio.

I used a stroboscope or a tachymeter to check the speeds on my lathe, found on for 43 mph, just right for a PW. What you actually adjust is the spring tension on the needle. Chuck the tranny end of a cable in the lathe and dial it in.

Tim is verifying that both speedos are the same befpore tackling his gears. I suspect a t/c wswpa woith the wring drive gear. 4 vs 5 teeth is 20%... or he needs to change the pinion to 11 teeth.
