Tim;
Just a long shot……I am not a tire guy.

Tire diameter would cause different readings on speedo. I don’t know how much of a Diameter change would equal a speedo error. I just did some looking on Summit Racing (easy to look at a bunch of tires) for 750x16 tires. The diameters of different manufactures are all over the place. As an Example;
Coker Tire = 31.48”
Firestone = 31.0”
BF Goodrich = 31.80 No Blimp
Yokohama 32.0”
Yokohama 31.5”
And that just a snap shot of tires available. To add more confusion, we dont know what diameter 750x16’s were shipped with the 57 W-100. We don’t know the diameter of the spec tire used in the parts book to spec speedo drive gears.

How much difference in speedo readings the above different tire diameters would give is beyond my pay grade.

Paul
