Yes, the Army did buy some of these. My '49 was originally owned by the Army, and I think its sister '48 that was in the same yard as mine was also owned by the Army. When I bought mine, it had a coat of baby blue paint, but there was Army green all over the place, even the axles, and parts of the frame (maybe the whole frame, I don't recall now). All the bracketry under the hood, and the engine, transmission, etc. were all Army green, too. The next owner purchased it at some kind of Army surplus sale.
