The sending units are not compatable. Reading the variable resistance of each sending unit in 120 degree water;
The 251 Engine Temp Sender is 865 ohms
The 318 Engine Temp Sender is 147 ohms.
So the 251 engine temp sender will have to go into one of the block drains, which is the same size/thread.
