From what I've heard , read , and gathered over the years , the 251 & 265 are the basic same engine with a different crank and rods giving one a longer stroke making it a 265 engine cu.in.? So if this is true then most all the parts should be interchangable including the head. While checking prices of rebuild parts I was asked what year the engine was of my 251 as his book showed different parts #'s for different series of years made so there might be some subtle differences for certain parts of certain year manufactured engines. I'd do a little research and try to make sure (if possible)what vintage year my engine was before I bought any parts just in case there was some changes made in certain years. It seems the difference was between the earlier years, 40-early 50s and the later model stuff ?
