My 64/65 Pw was stretched from 146" to 156" by the factory. it was welded and a "C' shaped bracket fitted over the outside of the frame. A interior plate is on the inside of the frame. All of this was riveted with 5 rivets forward and 5 rivets aft of the stretch. Seems to me that the same idea in shortening and using bolts would work. However the front drive assembly was shifted 2" forward. My assumption that this was done was to re-establish the horizontal center of gravity.
