It is a 12 volt retrofit with an electric start (no foot lever), thanks for the info the weather just changed (northern Arizona) and I will have to wait for the weekend to even get through the snow to pull the starter motor. I'm pretty sure the electric is OK when it trys to engage the motor turns over as normal, and after it disengages it sounds like it is spinning pretty fast
