I agree with you. My 55PW has and will never see a highway(unless on a trailer). I get most of my enjoyment out of my truck knowing that no one will make another vehicle like it.
Being slow and ugly,loud and smokey is all part of it's appeal to me. My friends can tell I've stopped by their house by the gear oil in their drive.
My truck just would not seem right with some other engine. That is just my opinion, if I need to go somewhere fast I drive something else. But when I'm in my Power-Wagon I rather enjoy the mounting tension of all the cars behind me, 99% of them don't even realize that I can't go faster if I want to. Today everyone just assumes a vehicle can go fast. Modern trucks do. I guess the bottom line is if you want a fast truck you should get a more modern truck.
