I am tearing down an old shed that I built 45 years ago with used rail road ties and cross arms from power poles. I called the landfill to see if I could bring it and dump it.
They said "Yes, up to 6 yards free per day".
This idiocy was made apparent to me 4 years ago when a big tree fell and hit our house. took a 10 yard load of limbs in my dump trailer. Same story...."up to 6 yards per day free". I pointed out that I was already here and I didn't know that rule. They told me I could dump half today and bring the other half back tomorrow (25 miles round trip). I told them that was really stupid to even suggest. I reminded them about all the days previous that I had never brought anything....maybe they could give me credit for those days. :) Sometimes you have to wonder about the rules.....
