cowl vent rubber

this is probley the 5th time i have asked but i forget everything after 20 minutes.. does the cowl vent rubber tapper piece fit in the grove part of the cab. it don't seam to stay in very well i have tried to spread that grove a little with a screw driver.. am i putting it in the wrong way..
