I mentioned that I was looking for an air over hydraulic bottle jack.

This morning my wife called from my daughters hous and invited me to join them for coffee. She is taking care of my daughter after her rotator cuff surgery. Any way after coffee I went to the antique store next to the coffee shop which has a lot of tools and etc. They had a dozen bottle jacks of different sizes. I found one that seemed to work and paid $10 for it.

It is a Buda bottle jack. The BUDA name in cast into the body I can not find any weight rating. It does have the numbers 1 and 7 stamped into the top casing but are most likely identifiers for who did work on it at the factory. I cleaned it up a little and oiled a couple of spots and it worked very nicely. I has been holding up my trailer axle for more than an hour with no visible leaks.

I am trying to identify it’s capacity and possible age. I have not found it or one like it on line as yet. All I find are BUDA railroad jacks of which none seem to be hydraulic or shaped like mine. I suspect that the one I bought is at least a 20 ton jack by its size. The lifting ram is 1 7/8” in diameter. It fits under the axle with 16” tires, which is great, and has about 10” of lift.
