Headliner hardware question

The old headliner in my ‘52 PW “ Kirkwood”, was getting ragged so I am installing a new one. Not having too much trouble with fitting it, but looking at the hardware package that came with the VPW kit theire are many silver colored screws with finishing washers, and also some “brown button headed push in” fasteners, like what is used to secure the firewall pad.
My old headliner did not have these push in fasteners, where in the headliner are they used?
