Because of my two piece wheel design, I'll be more like a Semi and just carry a loose spare tire with no wheel. I can then pack it full of tools and things and therefore lose less space by hauling it around. Mine are only 38.5" and should actually stand up behind the rear seat. I thought about making some sort of device that would just go into the hitch and hold the spare but also have a swing away arm on it, that way I can carry it on long trips but the mount itself wouldn't have to be a part of the truck all the time.
Yea, I have a 2" hitch blank sunk into my rear cross member and my original pintle is on a machined plate that goes into the 2" hitch and mounts up flush.
I'll have to post pictures some time, I would post more but I get more criticism than support usually so it makes it not worth it.
