It would make it go, for sure, and suck a lot more gas. Weird thing with the /6 is I get exactly 10 mpg regardless of load or road conditions. I hate to start parting out the '65 3/4 ton but at this point, I'll probably never drive it or sell it as an intact truck. The hood and the top of the cab got caved in by the snow shortly after I parked it. The rotten tires disintegrated and it's sitting on the ground, the bed has a piece of steel sheet welded into it to cover the holes, and I already stole the vent window lever and sun visor off of it to put in the 1-ton. I remember it as a strong-running truck. It has a limited-slip rear end which I tested and it worked as advertised. But if it's easy to swap the powerplant into the 1 ton that's probably the way to go. Only discouraging thing about the 1-ton is the rapidly disintegrating floor pan. I bolted some angles onto the side to hold it up for now, but that's going to be a long-term problem.
