Go to you stock pile, Find a piece of water pipe the right diameter to fit outside the coliumn. Cut off about 2". Saw the pices in half lengthwise ending up with twi half-tubes. Use a pair of chain-type Vise Grips top clamp the pair together around the column, then use a regular two-jaw puller.
