When I had my Carryall on the Trans Labrador Highway in 2005 i quickly learned that the rear suspension had to be changed. It was so stiff, the rear axle housing might have well been welded to the frame.

I called Betts Spring in San Leandro, Ca to discuss the problem. I told them I wanted my Carryall to ride like a current 3/4 ton pickup. They had me take a bunch of measurements on my Carryall. They then designed 2 entirely new spring pack for the rear. The total cost with shipping to NY from CA was Mid $900. What a difference, the Carryall was now comfortable to ride in and it was, in my opinion, close to the ride of a
current production 3/4 ton Pickup.

I asked the engineer at Betts Spring about putting teflon strips between the leafs. The engineer told me that Betts will only do teflon strips on ambulances....period. On Anything that goes off road, there is a danger of the teflon allowing excessive spring movement and thus a possible shackle flip.
