Unless you just hit the deal of the century, 1k to 2K will buy anything that will not need a boat load of money to bring back. Even if your able to do all fab work on rusted out body parts the cost is terrible. Your much better off finding a solid PW in your year range. Sure it will cost more, but it can be put back on the road restored for reasonable money. Not trying to discourage you, just share the economic reality.

Many years ago, I brought back to life a 1943
WC-53 Dodge Carryall. It was better suited for the crusher than a restoration. I used it to learn new skills and hone old skills. She turned out beautiful with Cummins power.
Would I do another truck better suited for the crusher......NO !. Just to much money.
