You could ask the seller to measure the length of the head. If it's 23 inches long, then it's the smaller block, most likely a 230. If it's 25 inches long, then it's the bigger flathead, most likely a 251. Both engines are good. All other things being equal, the bigger one will have a little more power and may be a little more durable.
