NP205 will not shift into 2wd

Rebuilt the thing myself. And it is not the first one I have done but it is the first that I did not twin stick. It shifts into 4 low, neutral and 4 high but 2 wheel drive is non existent. I bench tested it, it worked fine on the bench but it did take some effort. A look on google and you can find hundreds of posts with the same issue.
This is the last NP205 that I build that does not get twin sticked. Too much of a hassle not to do so.
I can not even climb under neath and pry or hammer at it to get it to shift , total pain in the hoohhoo
