There are 2 potential issues here. First, if the NP435 is mounted to an LA hydraulic bellhousing I think the PTO output shaft will hit the bottom of the clutch dust cover. One solution would be to run the PTO to the rear and power a hydraulic pump to run the winch. I considered doing this, but my brake master cylinder was in the way. A hydraulic system could also be used to power a dump bed and rear accessories. I've always wanted to have a receiver-hitch mounted log splitter on the back of my truck

Second, if you have a right-hand gear set in the winch, you will power the cable OUT if it feeds from the bottom of the drum (the PTO has the same rotation as the engine, I believe). A left-hand gear set would work fine, but you would have to roll the truck forward to release tension on the cable. I've heard of at least one guy who does this, but I don't remember who.
