The truck is cold, the sound is currently gone.
It has the mechanical fuel pump. I figured it was pretty simple and lasted 75 years. Why add complication? And, I listened to it when the sound was present. It sounded fine.
Warming up and then leaking. Could be the ticket. everything lines up. Also failed vacuum hoses. They are all new now. See below.
Failed vacuum hoses.. Last night an today I spent pulling out the vacuum wiper motors, taking them all apart, cleaning everything and putting them back together. I had to make most of the gaskets because, where am I going to get new ones?
When I went to reinstall the vacuum hose came out like dried macaroni. Fine, I went out and bought all new hose and re-plumbed them. Did a test drive and.. The barely work down hill. Not at all on the level. At least they go back and forth now. Just weaker 'n heck.
And now that I'm writing this I do remember when I first got this truck running they seemed like they had all sorts of power. Hmm..
