When I was a younger man, my girlfriend at the time who is my wife today, and parents went to visit my brother in LA in my parents 54 Cadillac. Well, to get to LA from the San Joaquin Valley, middle of California, you had to go over the southern mountain range pass, called the Grapevine. Now as I got in my teen years, like most kids, you get away from riding with mom and dad as you may have had your own transportation, so I rarely rode in the Caddy. This was winter time, and coming back out of LA climbing the Grapevine it started raining with a mixture of snow. In the dash of the Caddy, my Dad had tucked away a string that he tied to the wiper arms so he proceeded to grab his side and my mom hers and they started pulling the string back and forth through the wing vents to work the arms. The old vacuum motor no longer worked, and my dad didn't want to replace it. My girlfriend and I, yeah we giggled and laughed.
Ok, so if that option won't work for you and your wife, then there is a nut under the arm that you remove to remove the motor after removing the arm.
