I have used rubbing alcohol- not sure if it’s a good idea but I was in a pinch and it did the trick. There are different concentrations (proof?), so I got the stuff with more ETOH and less of whatever they cut it with ... probably water.
Agreeing with the others - Carb icing will cause that problem, as will a wimpy fuel pump.
