I had an old guy here locally who runs a dirt company and has a lot of older equipment he works on a lot tell me one time when I had a head with a crack that I can dig a hole in my yard and put a few bags of charcoal in the hole and light on fire. Get it ready for a BBQ and then set the head in it. Let the head get hot and then weld it up while the head was in the hole on the coals and then afterwards cover the head with charcoal and walk away. Come back when the charcoal is done and cooled off.
