Thanks for your post. Yes on paper, some staining. I just took the lid off and placed sandpaper on flat bench top. Then sliding it back and forth to expose gasket surface imperfections. Some appear but after 15 seconds doing this the surface became uniformly shiney. Will try the test agqain. Crazy that this would happen since the carb was rebuilt 2 years ago. Go figure.
