look at a kenworth or peterbuilt cab and with fiberglass hoods
how hard could have been for an automaker to retool some and make the cab safer(a tad wider) collapsable steering--beef up the fender splash guards and the front clip to handle crashes better
more like they just did not want to deal with uncle sam
seems there were plenty of engines that could have been used
but they should have just turboed a 265!!
they should have made the line bigger wm400 500 600 etc. etc.!!!!!! but then again they were getting ready to can the whole truckline and the wm was first in line cuz they were being accused of being a monopoly and the pth had to make room for their asian invasion
