Some discussion here:

Doesn’t sound like your gas AT will bolt up to the 6bt.
I’ve had a ‘77 swap project mostly done for a couple of years, sidelined when my back quit on me, now getting back to it little by little.
I wanted an early 12valve, NV4500, and a divorced 205 t-case. I found a wrecked donor that had the advance adapters getrag-delete bell housing so I used that and decided to keep the married t-case.
I chopped the radiator mounts out of the wrecked ‘89
Cummins and welded them into the ‘77 so I could use the Cummins radiator. Front engine mounts bolted up. Yours will be easier with the at, might just be able to swap in the right transmission/t-case (?).
The ‘70s frame was taller and I moved the rear crossmember location back for the 5spd. Went to a one piece rear driveline. So I have some time into crossmembers, and also had to get the front driveline lengthened. Lot easier if you don’t have to do that on.
