Yeah, it used to called "terminate" back in the day. EPA mandated treated wood with the stuff was unsafe do to the ingredients and now require Borate, or Boraxo as I know it to treat wood.
Used to blow ground Boraxo soap into carpenter bee holes in cedar beams to get rid of them, so I guess it works on rot and termites, but bad on non galvanized metals.
Also used Boraxo soap as a flux for brazing as an alternative flux in the shop.
