At first seeing one of their trucks my reaction was like...."wow, that's pretty cool, but the interior looks a little weird for a PW". The first one I saw had all original running gear and either a Cummins or a 318. Now, like you said, Marty, they are a made-up vehicle of a bunch of off-the-shelf parts, that most likely will never even get shifted into 4 wheel drive.
The pros, as far as I can see, are that they will help Matt Tysdale immensely if he continues to supply sheet metal parts for them, and maybe a few other small parts suppliers. But even then, they use so many non-PW parts that maybe the second part of that statement doesn't really mean anything.
Maybe, if they don't scrap all the original parts, that might benefit guys who want to stay closer to original.
Otherwise, the name Power Wagon, and what it originally was intended to identify, is being subjugated to a class of vehicles that likely will live out their lives simply sitting in some wealthy sheik's courtyard, or occasionally ferrying someone with way too much money to the Banana Republic store or to an over-priced golf course.
My biggest concern is that they would be out there buying what's left of the plain old original trucks and then transplanting the body on top of that silly frame and running gear, then filling the cab with stereos, GPS, laptops, fish-finders, or whatever else they put in them.
