Hi Alex,
I think you misunderstand my complaint.
My complaint is not in modifying Power Wagons. Quite the oposite. I love modifications that are well thought out & executed. I've followed your build & always look forward to looking at whatever innovative solution you've engineered to accomplish your end goal. The quality of workmanship is impressive & I like being impressed.
Nothing better than looking at a project & having to actually use your brain to try to figure out how somebody made something work the way they have & I get that with yours.
Do you remember the 58 or 59 W500 that was being built in WA? I can't remember the fellows name. It was an impressive "Resto mod" if that's what you want to call it. See...I hate names like that. Like "Rat Rod"...this is a name we give a style that's usually started by someone very talented & inovative & then exploited by people with very little talent but they can copy someone else's ideas real good.
Now the electronic junk...well sorry...that's just what it is.
If you look at a 4bt with an inline pump that's been built well...you just can't compare that to some electronic Chinese crap Cummins is pumping out today.
Folks buy it because you can go get it new...a crate engine & you don't have to do any work to get one...just call cummins & they'll send one over!
There are things in 2017 are better than days gone by but Diesel engines are not one of them. I watched a long documentary on the subject & the manufacturers were actually apologizing! It's not their fault but they are having unrealistic hurdles that they're having to meet to sell engines that meet emission standards.
Are they better? No...and Cummins is the first to admit that.
Legacy? They just bolt on parts sold at Jegs & call it a day. Winston or whatever his name is is ok with it so long as it gets him a spot on Gas Monkey Garage.
Junk pal.
