There is a book out there I got my hands on at one time. From what I remember, what really happened in the Battle of the Bulge was that the German advance (unknowingly) hit smack dab in the middle of the hole in our lines covered by these poor guys. We had a division that needed a rest and we'd swapped out the "real" troops for the Ghost guys. The real troops took the heat afterward because no one could say who was really there.
