Ok, no sweat, thanks. I might be ok without a rust converter. My wife reminded me of a polycarbide wheel that we have, which she has used a couple of times for other projects. It's a drill attachment, not for a grinder, but I figured I should at least give it a try, and I'm glad I did. It's doing a right fine job of removing all rust and paint, down to the bare metal, and not taking long to do it. It won't get into the tight little corners around the spring mounts or the brake backing plates, so I'll still need to figure out something for those. I may resort to hand sanding, paint stripper and some store-bought converter that I can buy locally, today or tomorrow since those areas are so small.

For some rusty areas of the body, I will probably give Fertan a try. That will be down the road a ways. For now, gotta get the axle back under the truck, so I can close the garage door without the hassle I'm going through right now.
