Several products on the market (parts store, Home Depot, paint store) that can be brushed on minor rust. It must be on for a specific amount of time for the chemical reaction to take place. Then it can be primed and painted.
For quicker and less effective solution, you can buy rust proof primer in spray cans. It depends on how long you want it to last.
