Keep in mind that the largest organ of the body is the skin. Skin is porus. Drugs are often administered through the skin (think of nicotine patches). So the chemicals that you get on your skin can (and will) affect your health in general. Protect your skin as you would your lungs. Wear gloves even when dealing with these so called friendly solvents. Just because it doesn't burn your skin doesnt mean that it isn't hurting something important inside. Even if the label says its safe on the skin, I still wear gloves because of what I have seen about new complications with long term exposures to these things. Just watch the news, even milk would probably hurt you if you are around it too much.
