The Hercules was a four cylinder. The kit was designed for the M37, but you can't get it these days.

If you want to go diesel, a good option would be to use a Cummins 6AT (like the one on ebay right now) with a NV4500.

Unless you have a real desire to keep the original transmission in order to retain your PTO, you might find it easier in the long run to swap out the transmission. Most of the four, five, and six speeds you would want to use in a repower can have a PTO attached.

Charlie is currently working on a project with a Cummins 6AT, I just finished one with a 4BT...
